I think of myself as one part behavioral scientist and one part data scientist, which could make me a behavioral data scientist, a decision scientist, or someone with an odd self perception. I spent the early years of my professional career in academia where I studied how deterministic and stochastic mathematical models can be used to understand organizational behavior. Having since left academia for industry life, I now find myself applying those same models to practical problems that occur in the growing field of People Analytics. Having been out of academia for a minute now, I have realized that what I miss most about academic life is writing. Hence this blog, where I write (or intend to at least) about things I find interesting. Fair warning, though, my interests are wide ranging and very much my own.
